Russell Binney
Russell Binney first started playing golf at the age of ten after being introduced to the game by his father. By the age of fifteen he had played for the Cornwall men's team and became Cornwall County Champion at 18.
He represented the South West Counties team for their annual match against the Midlands four years running. After qualifying for the European Tour qualifying school finals in 1998 Russell decided it was time to turn professional.
For the next couple of years he played on the European Challenge Tour along side the likes of Ian Poulter and Justin Rose before embarking on the PGA training programme.
In 2006 he joined St Austell Golf Club as assistant to Tony Pitts where he works along side Tony in the golf shop and coaches a wide variety of players from beginners to scratch golfers.
He has AA PGA status by attending coaching seminars and keeping up to date with the latest improvements in coaching. He is a level 3 golf coach. He has had the chance to work with some of the the best PGA coaches throughout his career, such as the likes of Pete Cowen, Gary Alliss and Keith Williams who are all PGA Master Professionals and this has been invaluable in gaining knowledge of the golf swing.
Even though he still plays in regional PGA Pro-Ams his main focus is to become the best golf coach he can and work towards PGA Master Professional Status.
Tuition is available from Russell who will provide lessons for both members and visitors. Tuition fees are reasonably priced at £25 per 40mins. Group Coaching is also available upon request. (read more about Lessons & Coaching...)
