Congratulations to the Ladies Team from St Austell on their fantastic win today. The team comprising Caryl Gould, Marion Sutton, Gill Dinnis & Mandi Jago supported by their caddies, Shirley Best, Claire Waters, Trudy Metherell & Jackie Nile played an Individual Medal with the best 3 from 4 scores to count and won the Shield with a fantastic score of 229.

St Austell Ladies Captain, Margaret Hancock, was on hand to welcome the County Committee and all the Ladies.

The Andrews Bowl for the best Scratch score went to Marion Sutton with a Gross 95 and runner up was Mandi Jago with 98.

The Club hosted teams from 21 Clubs throughout the County and with the caddies there were 176 mouths to feed.

The catering was superb and huge thanks must go to Leslie, Mike and all the staff in the kitchen and at the bar for their huge efforts in producing a fabulous Summer Buffet served in the marquee. Additional thanks to one of our Ladies, Elaine Tomlinson for her fantastic flower display on the prize table.

Many thanks also to Brenda and Sue for ball spotting all morning at the 2nd hole.

The County President, Helen Davey, thanked all the St Austell members for their support throughout the day.

Letter from Cornwall Ladies County Golf Association dated 26th June 2019: –

Dear Sue,
Just a note to express the County’s appreciation of all the hard work and effort that the Ladies of St Austell Golf Club put in to the County Bronze Shield Competition.
I have had so many people saying to me what a fabulous day they had and how much they enjoyed it, particularly the organisation, the course and the summer buffet afterwards.
Please do pass on my thanks and gratitude to the Greens staff, the Catering staff and all the Ladies for making it such a memorable day.
So looking forward to Flag Day and coming back to St Austell.

With very warmest wishes,

Jacquie Lang
