St Austell 3 - Trevose 0
After leaving home at 6 am this Sunday morning the B Team assembled at St Enodoc to play their qualifier for county week.
The putting green was very quiet prior to the first match starting, in fact someone commented, was anyone awake yet?
The first pairing of Shaun Harvey and Biff (Simon) Bertho went to the first tee and were very quickly 1 up in their match. This pattern was followed in the second match with Darren Wisdom and Nigel Tucker very quickly going 1 up. Once again Danny Pearce and Dave Johnson went 1 up within five minutes.
Then reality struck, people woke up and the dream finished..................each match was given the first hole due to Trevose being late on the tee and then five minutes later each pairing were awarded the match because Trevose failed to turn up. Understandably everyone was very disappointed, particularly because it was Trevose who one would not normally associate with just not turning up without letting anyone know. Hopefully the County will take appropriate action. A lot of time and money was wasted. However we must always look to take a positive. Dan Olver who had turned up to caddy (well done Dan) and Alan Lund got their clubs out and provided opposition for Danny and Dave while Biff and Shaun took on Darren and Nige in a friendly foursomes match. The course at St Enodoc was in fabulous condition and it was a pleasure to play it so warm and still.
The Captain wishes to thank all the players and Caddy and looks forward to going even further in the competition in County Week.
