Sat 12th May - Men's Twining Waller Cup

In total we had 62 pairs competing for the above trophy. The weather conditions were dry but with a chilling north westerly wind, is it May they ask ?

The scoring was in the main as one would have expected the majority of scores ranging between 66 to 69. The winning score of 61 was shared between two pairs Brian Osborne/Steve Harris and Terry Coplin/Nigel Jarvis, (that man again he's on my radar). The former pairing winning on countback with 29 nett on the last nine holes.

This Saturday coming there is no official trophy to be played for, so we will be playing another Better Ball - Stableford, an opportunity to sharpen your game in preparation for Vice Captain's Day on the 2nd June which will be a similar competition. Separating the two we have the St.Austell Open - individual medal with good prizes for both gross and nett scores.

Next week is County Week at St Enodoc, good luck to the A and B teams playing Monday and Friday respectively and to the 4 pairings who qualified earlier this year for the Goblets being played this Sunday, plus any other participants from the club playing during the week.

Today's results are below:-

  1. Steve Harris & Brian Osborne - 61 c/b
  2. Terry Coplin & Nigel Jarvis - 61
  3. Tony Coles & Chris Stribley - 63 c/b
  4. Malcolm Cleave & Ian Fielding - 63
  5. John Walker & Darren Ward - 64
  6. P J Lund & Brian Waters - 65 c/b

A note to all competition winners there will be a presentation evening, probably on the final day of the Club Championship, so make a provisional note in your diaries.

The entry form for those wishing to participate in this years Scratch Cup was posted on Saturday, the draw will take place at the end of this month.

Reference was made last week to Dave Morgan not going to win anything more during that week. He defied the pundits, however he should note that a golf ball is for hitting with a golf club and not to be chested down for use as a football, just look at the bruise !!!!
